snsware.net
A collection of (mostly) Freeware Visual Basic Programs

about this site:
Welcome to snsware.net. This site holds all the programs made and posted to the internet by Seth Sticco (ME!!) Feel free to explore the site and download the software. Also, please email me and tell me what you think. Even if you just tell me you downloaded it, it shows me that at least somebody uses the stuff. My email is sethn@snsware.net.
required files:
All the software on this site was made in either Visual Basic 6 or Visual Studio .NET. The VB6 apps will need the VB6 runtime files. The .NET ones will need the .NET framework. See the link on the sidebar, labeled Required Files, for more information.
updates:
October 30, 2003 - New Program, LazyConsole
There is a new Shareware program up now called LazyConsole. Anyone who ever uses the DOS Prompt and/or likes the concept of having a Command-Line Interface should check it out.
August 22, 2003 - New Host, New Program
I switched this site to a new host a couple weeks ago. Then the great blackout came and knocked it down for about a day and a half. They said they've never experienced a power outage before, and they are implementing measures to ensure uptime if it happens again. I decided to switch to a new host, anyway, and found one for $1 cheaper. That's the host I'm at now, ant I'm quite satisfied here.
There is a new program up, but this one is not free. It's called No-Red, and it can be used to remove Red-Eye from digital photos. I made it because I had a need. If you've got one, too, consider my program. It worked very well for me. Unfortunately, there is no way of ordering it yet, but that is coming.
Since the last time I posted an update message here, there was an update to SNS Text Scroller that I forgot to mention here. Now you know about it.
November 13, 2002 - No more popups!
I just started paying for the hosting for this website. This means that there will be no more popup ads on this site, as anyone who isn't using a popup killer app should notice already. Unfortunately, it also means that this website is actually starting to cost me money. I was always paying for the domain name, but that was cheap. Expect to see some shareware here soon.
November 13, 2002 - The first .NET program added
The first .NET program on this website, XP TimeSync, has been added. Despite its fancy name, all it does is change a setting in Windows XP that determines how often it will update your computer's clock against a time server on the internet. Windows should've just provided the option in the first place.
August 23, 2002 - No more .com
If you're reading this, you probably already know that my website has moved to snsware.net from snsware.com. I had completely forgotten to renew the other domain name (the .com). I didn't even realize it was expiring. Someone else had bought it up before I knew it expired, so I had to get a new domain name (the .net). I usually don't make the same mistakes twice. Let's hope that applies here. Anyhow, please update your bookmarks and let others know of the move.
July 20, 2002 - .NET, anyone?
I'm trying to decide whether to make the next version of SNS HTMLEdit in VB6 or VB.NET. Either way, there's going to be some major improvements to it. The most noticable difference is that if I use VB.NET, you will have to download the .NET framework to run it, which is very big (about 20 MB). I'm not sure if it helps, but the .NET framework is available on thw Windows Update website. I would rather make it in VB.NET, but I'm wondering whether the large framework will become a problem. Feel free to email me at sethn@snsware.net or use the web-based form here to send me your thoughts. Your replies will make a difference.
June 4, 2002 - Yes, I'm still here
Well, I'm still here, even though there haven't been any updates on this site for a very long time. I seem to have bitten off a little more than I could chew with SNS HTMLEdit back in January. Then Visual Studio .NET was released in February, and that ruined any chances of anything being done for a while. I'm finally starting to get back to VB6, and therefore SNS HTMLEdit and the rest of the VB6 apps on this site. This means that, hopefully, I'll get a new HTMLEdit version out soon. For now, there's a new version of the SNS ColorWorms screen saver.
January 1, 2002 - Some good things are coming
It's been a while, but I'm still here. SNS ColorWorms and SNS HTMLEdit will soon be updated, hopefully before the end of January. There will also be a new screen saver soon. If there any changes or features you'd like to see in any of the programs here (especially SNS HTMLEdit), send me an email and I'll see what I can do.
August 9, 2001 - Two updates
SNS ColorWorms was updated. Click the link in the screen savers section for more information. Also, about two weeks ago, I made and posted an ActiveX control to this site. It's the Text Scroller. Today, I posted an update. Click the link for it on the side for download information. There is still no documentation for it, but I'll come up with something soon.
April 24, 2001 - New Email
Apparently, Bigfoot is having some problems and I'm not receiving my email from the sethn@bigfoot.com email address, so I've changed my email address to sethn@snsware.com throughout this site. I hope Bigfoot clears up whatever problems they're having soon, because my programs still point to the Bigfoot email.
March 21, 2001 - More info on next SNS HTMLEdit version
The next version of SNS HTMLEdit has finally been uploaded. The syntax highlighting is a bit slow, so you might want to disable it unless you only use small HTML files. I'll fix that later. There are other great new things in this new version, too, including a new color chooser and multiple undo/redo. The color chooser is much better than what I had before. Download SNS HTMLEdit and check it out!
March 1, 2001 - More info on next SNS HTMLEdit version
I know it's been a month and SNS HTMLEdit still isn't updated. There are two reasons for this. The first is that I got caught up in a computer game. That probably set it back week or two by itself. The second is that I'm trying to make the next version as perfect as I could, so I'm spending a lot of time testing it out, and I'm paying attention to all the tiny details. I am almost done, though, so I should have it up on this site soon.
January 29, 2001 - Info on next SNS HTMLEdit version
The next version of SNS HTMLEdit is going to be a very big improvement. It will include syntax highlighting and a much better color chooser. Also, I may add multiple levels of undo. This new version will be posted to this site within the next couple of weeks, hopefully. I just wanted to let people know that I'm still here, since it's been a little over a month since my last update. (though there have been longer gaps in the past..) Also, someone suggested that I make logos for people to give me credit for the HTML editor and/or to use to link back to this site. I will probably be posting those, soon, too.
December 19, 2000 - Every Program Updated
I finally did it. Every program on this site was updated to a new version. They all use the VB6 runtime files now. You can get them here if you have trouble running these programs.
December 4, 2000 - Lots of Updates Real Soon..
I got Visual Basic 6, so I'm going to start using that instead of Visual Basic 5. Right now, for any of these programs to work, you need the VB5 runtime. To keep things uniform, I'm updating every program at the same time. This way, every program on the site will need the same runtime files. The reason why the update is delaying is because I'm improving each program so the update represents more than just a change in VB version. I should be done real soon. In short, expect every program on this site to get improved at the same time within the next couple weeks.
November 8, 2000 - SNS ColorWorms Update
SNS ColorWorms was updated. Password protection works now. I'm updating this one first, because it seems to be the more popular one. I also included a second set of default options you can set it to. In the options window, click "Set to Default". A small menu will pop up. Default #2 is the new one. It has the options I prefer to use on my own computer.
October 25, 2000 - Email Form Added; Also, Screen Saver Update Imminent
I realized that some people may find it much easier to send me an email if I had an email form right on the site that can be used. So I added one. The Email Me link on the side now links to the email form. Use it to tell me what you think of my site and its software. Also, as a side note, there will be new versions of the screen savers posted on this site real soon. They will support passwords under Win9X (Passwords always worked on WinNT/2000). Also, I found out that SNS ColorWorms and probably also CoolLines gets minimized when Windows 2000 starts it up as a screen saver. This will be fixed, too. The screen savers should be updated in at least a week.
September 23, 2000 - The Second Screensaver is Up
The second screensaver, SNS ColorWorms is on the site. Tell me what you think. I decided to put "SNS" in the name of each screensaver, just like in the programs. I may change the name of CoolLines to reflect this, but I'm not sure yet. By the way, in case anyone is wondering, SNS is just my initials.
September 13, 2000 - One Screensaver is Up
I finally finished the installer and the first of the two screensavers is on the site. The other one still needs a little more work before it is ready. Also, I added a new section on the side for screensavers.
August 29, 2000 - No Updates Lately ...
I haven't updated this site for a couple weeks, because I've been busy on other things.. I'll be back to this site soon. Right now, I'm making an installer for the two screensavers. Though time is limited, they should still be done real soon.
August 10, 2000 - New SNS HTMLEdit Version
I uploaded SNS HTMLEdit version 2.6 to this site. The new version includes lots of improvements. Internet Explorer is no longer required for it to run. The TagList was completely rewritten. The icon was even changed. I never liked the old one, anyway. The new one is much better.
August 4, 2000 - Coming Soon ...
I finally got this site working well enough for me. I will be posting new versions of my programs over the next couple weeks, until every program is updated. Each one has at least something that needs to be improved. Also, expect 2 new screensavers and maybe 1 or 2 new games. They will also be put up sometime over the next couple weeks. The first program to be updated will be SNS HTMLEdit, which will feature an improved taglist.
